Wanted Man Turns Himself In, Charged With Assault

A man sought for questioning in connection to an assault in Hilo turned himself in Wednesday evening, July 14.

Twenty-five-year-old Timothy Michael Kaleo O’ Kalani Kaho‘oilihala is facing first-degree and second-degree assault charges after allegedly hitting a 21-year-old man on Monday, July 12, in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Maile Street in Hilo with brass knuckles.

The victim reported to Hawai‘i Police Department he was struck numerous times to the head, face and body.

“The victim was transported to the Hilo Medical Center emergency room where he was treated for his injuries, which were classified as serious and substantial,” HPD stated in a press release Thursday, July 15.

Kaho‘oilihala is currently being held on $35,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in South Hilo District Court this afternoon for his initial appearance.

The 25-year-old is also being held on an additional $250 bail on a warrant for contempt of court.
