With two additional inmate recoveries, Hawai‘i Community Correctional Center now reports eight active COVID-19 cases among prisoners.

The Public Safety Department has been battling an outbreak at HCCC since May. The number of cases has slowly started to dwindle. COVID-19 testing is continuously being conducted statewide at all facilities.

The O‘ahu Community Correctional Center reports 17 inmate test results, of which, one was positive and 16 were negative. The latest testing updates received for other facilities are as follows:

  • Waiawa Correctional Facility – 3 negative staff test results.
  • Halawa Correctional Facility – 3 negative inmate test results.
  • Women’s Community Correctional Center – 2 negative inmate test results.
  • Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center – 1 negative inmate test result.

PSD continues to encourage all staff and inmates to voluntarily get tested and receive the COVID vaccination.
