Authorities Investigate Reported Break-In at Hōlualoa Post Office

Hawaiʻi Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying persons involved in a reported break-in at the Hōlualoa Post Office.

The incident occurred sometime between Saturday, July 10, 2021, and Monday, July 12, 2021. Kona patrol officers were called to the scene at 7:05 a.m. on Monday where they determined someone had broken into the post office.

“Employees from the United States Postal Service are working to determine if any articles of mail were removed from within the post office,” police stated.

Detectives from HPD’s Area II Criminal Investigation Section are conducting preliminary investigations until agents from the United States Postal Inspection Service arrive on island to continue the investigation.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the police department’s non-emergency number at 808-935-3311, or Detective Ray Fukada at 808-326-4646 extension 281, or send an email to ray.fukada@hawaiicounty.gov.

Citizens who wish to remain anonymous can make an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 808-961-8300 and be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
