22 Motorists Arrested for DUI Last Week

Twenty-two motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant during the week of June 28 through July 4.

Three of the drivers taken into custody were involved in a traffic accident and two of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 601 DUI arrests compared with 447 during the same period last year, an increase of 34.5%.

There have been 394 major accidents so far this year compared with 401 during the same period last year, a decrease of 1.7%.

To date, there have been 12 fatal crashes, resulting in 12 fatalities, compared with 10 fatal crashes, resulting in 10 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents an increase of 20% for fatal crashes and 20% for fatalities.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island-wide.
