DOH Identifies 49 New Coronavirus Infections

The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 49 new cases of coronavirus statewide Thursday, bringing the overall total to 37,807. One new COVID-related death was also reported.

Three new cases were reported on the Big Island Thursday, according to DOH statistics. The state’s two-week average is 40 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 1.4%. A DOH map that tracks cases by district across all islands can be accessed on the department’s website.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 27,127
Maui: 3,877
Hawai‘i: 3,198
Kaua‘i: 365
Lana‘i: 112
Moloka‘i: 56
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 1,317

A total of 2,476 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 518 have died.

To date, a total of 1,684,398 doses of vaccine have been administered statewide.
