Authorities seek the public’s help locating a 52-year-old man in ned of medical attention.

Family members of Joseph Smithey told Hawai’i Police they haven’t heard from the man since late May 2021. Smithey is known to frequent the Mountain View and Kurtistown area.

Smithey is described as a Caucasian male, 6 fee tall, and weighs approximately 160-170 pounds, with red and gray hair, and having a tan complexion.

There is no last known clothing description for Smithey.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 808-935-3311, with attention to Officer Kyle Murray. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the island-wide Crime Stoppers number at 808-961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
