Nonprofit to Hold Open BBQ to Support Military, Vets and Families

The Mental Restorations Foundation (MRF) is holding a membership drive and ´ohana BBQ in July to grow its ranks and communicate its mission.

MRF is a nonprofit organization that states its purpose as to support first responders, active duty military, veterans and the families of all those groups of people by providing outdoors activities to assist with mental health wellness and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) trauma challenges.

The gathering is set for July 10 at 12:30 pm at Whittington Beach Park in the Ka´ū District. There will be swimming, snorkeling, and opportunities to meet and talk story with current MRF members. There will also be raffle prizes including MRF apparel, gift certificates, custom-made cakes from Crazy Cat Lady Cakes and several other items.

The BBQ will follow a morning hike at the Kahuku Unit, making the start time approximate.

Those interested in attending should bring a side dish to share, swim/snorkel gear, towels, chairs, a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses. They are also asked to RSVP to 808-315-5594 or [email protected]. The MRF website can be accessed at www.mentalrestoration.org.
