State Identifies 48 New Infections Friday

The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 48 new cases of coronavirus statewide Friday, bringing the overall total to 37,532. One new COVID-related death was reported.

Two new cases were reported on the Big Island Friday, with 145 active cases and four people hospitalized.

The state’s two-week average is 43 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 1.5%. A DOH map that tracks cases by district across all islands can be accessed on the department’s website.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

A total of 2,444 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 514 have died.
