COVID Recoveries Continue Among HCCC Inmates

Inmates infected with COVID-19 at Hawaii Community Correctional Center continue to get better with authorities reporting 16 additional recoveries as of Thursday, June 24.

Overall, there have been a total of 183 inmate recoveries, bringing the number of active coronavirus cases down to 53. Staff cases remain unchanged at six.

The Public Safety Department reported earlier this week nine inmates transferred to O‘ahu’s prison at Halawa Correctional Facility tested positive for COVID. On Thursday, there were no new inmate cases, however, one staff case was reported. The employee last worked on June 16.

COVID-19 testing is continuously being conducted statewide at all facilities. The latest inmate testing results received for other facilities are as follows:

O‘ahu Community Correctional Center – 16 negative inmate test results
Halawa Correctional Facility – 6 negative inmate test results
Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center – 4 negative inmate test results
