Police ID Woman Killed in Puna Moped Crash

Authorities have identified a woman killed in a moped crash on Monday evening, June 14.

According to Hawai’i Police, 49-year-old Fawn K. Jost, of Pāhoa, was traveling on Government Beach Road in the area of Papaya Farms Road in Puna at approximately 5 p.m. when the crash occurred. Authorities say Jost veered off the left shoulder, striking a tree and fell into a four-foot ditch.

An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday, June 15, but police are awaiting the toxicology results before making a final determination.

The East Hawai’i Traffic Enforcement Unit has initiated a Coroner’s Inquest investigation which remains pending. If anyone witnessed the accident or has information, contact Officer Blayne Matsui at 808-961-2339 or send an email to Blayne.Matsui@HawaiiCounty.gov.
