16 Motorists Arrested for DUI Last Week

Sixteen motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant during the week of May 31 through June 6.

Four of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. Three of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 529 DUI arrests compared with 365 during the same period last year. This is an increase of 44.9%. There have been 343 major accidents so far this year compared with 349 during the same period last year, a decrease of 1.7%.

To date, there were 11 fatal crashes, resulting in 11 fatalities, compared with nine fatal crashes, resulting in nine fatalities for the same time last year. This represents an increase of 22.2% for fatal crashes and 22.2% for fatalities.
