Hilo Man Wanted for Questioning in Sex Assault Investigation

Authorities seek the public’s help in locating a Hilo man wanted for questioning in a sexual assault investigation.

Sixty-five-year-old James R. Lawrence is wanted on two warrants for driving without a valid license and no motor vehicle insurance. He is also wanted for questioning in connection with an unrelated sexual assault investigation, according to Hawai‘i Police.

Lawrence is described as local/Hawaiian, 5-foot-5-inches tall, 140 pounds with graying black hair, brown eyes and is possibly homeless in the Hilo or Puna areas.

 Anyone with information on the Hilo man’s whereabouts is asked to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 808-935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the island-wide Crime Stoppers number at 808-961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
