13 Motorists Arrested on DUI Offenses Week of May 24-30

Thirteen motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant during the week of May 24-30, 2021.

According to Hawai‘i Police Department, five of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. Two of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 513 DUI arrests compared with 355 during the same period last year. This is an increase of 44.5%.

There have been 328 major accidents so far this year compared with 333 during the same period last year, a decrease of 1.5%.

To date, there were 11 fatal crashes, resulting in 11 fatalities, compared with eight fatal crashes, resulting in eight fatalities for the same time last year. This represents an increase of 37.5% for fatal crashes and 37.5% for fatalities.

DUI roadblocks and patrols continue island-wide.
