Road Closure Scheduled in Hōnaunau for Traffic Investigation

Keala O Keawe Road (Highway 160) between the entrance of Pu’uhonua O Hōnaunau National Historical Park and Hōnaunau Beach Road will close today, May 27, 2021, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Hawai‘i Police Department’s Area II Traffic Enforcement Unit will be conducting further investigations into a traffic incident that had occurred previously.

Motorists will be able to access Pu’uhonua O Hōnaunau National Historical Park from the north (makai) and motorists traveling on Hōnaunau Beach Road will only be able to travel southbound on Keala O Keawe Road during this time period.

Motorists are asked to drive with caution during this time and take alternate routes if possible. Plan trips accordingly and expect delays when traveling through the area.
