Man Found Fatally Shot at End of the World Identified

Authorities have identified a man found fatally shot on the road at “End of the World” in Keauhou.

Joey Richmond, 46, of Kailua-Kona, was found Tuesday evening, May 25. According to Hawai‘i Police Department, central dispatch received a call at approximately 9:29 p.m. regarding an unresponsive male at the end of the Keauhou Kainaliu Beach Road. When officers arrived on scene, they found a man, later identified as Richmond, dead with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds to the torso area.

An autopsy conducted on May 26, shows Richmond died from multiple gunshot wounds to the body, and that manner of death is homicide.

Detectives from HPD’s Area II Criminal Investigation Section responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation, which has been classified as second-degree murder.
