Two More Succumb to Virus in Hawai‘i

The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 61 new cases of coronavirus Friday. The statewide total is now 35,726.

Two new COVID-related deaths were reported:

  • An O’ahu man, 70-79 years, who had been hospitalized with underlying conditions.
  • An O’ahu woman, 70-79 years, who had been hospitalized with underlying conditions.

Three new cases of the virus were identified on the Big Island Friday, per DOH statistics. The state’s two-week average is 76 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 1.5%.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 26,069
Maui: 3,587
Hawai‘i: 2,776
Kaua‘i: 313
Lana‘i: 112
Moloka‘i: 50
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 1,161

A total of 2,280 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 494 have died.

To date, a total of 1,437,758 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered statewide.
