Injured Hiker Rescued Out of Pololū Valley

A hiker complaining of knee pain was airlifted out of Pololū Valley Wednesday morning, May 19.

At approximately 7:15 a.m., Hawai‘i Fire Department received a call about an injured hiker on the North Kohala trail. According to HFD, the hiker had an old knee injury flare up. The reporting party stated the hiker was on the beach unable to hike out.

Multiple companies responded to the valley. The individual airlifted to the Pololū lookout where an ambulance was waiting.

The patient was treated then transported to Kohala Hospital in stable condition.
