Six DUI’s Lead to Collisions, 32 Arrested Over Previous Week

The Hawai‘i Police Department arrested 32 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant over the previous week. Six of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. Three of the drivers were under the age of 21.  

So far this year, there have been 460 DUI arrests compared with 315 during the same period last year, an increase of 46%.

There have been 282 major accidents so far this year compared with 291 during the same period last year, a decrease of 3.1%. 

To date, there have been eight fatal crashes resulting in eight fatalities compared with eight fatal crashes resulting in eight fatalities for the same time last year. 

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide.
