The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Thursday, May 6. The watch begins at 6 pm Thursday night and will continue on through Saturday morning.

A flash flood watch means that conditions are favorable for flash flooding. Heavy moisture from the east will bring the potential for thunderstorms and locally heavy rain for the entire island.

All residents in flood prone areas are asked to remain alert for flooding conditions and be prepared to take action if a flood warning is issued. Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed without warning due to flooding. Do not attempt to cross flowing water in a vehicle or on foot; turn around don’t drown.
