Ongoing Brush Fire Reported on Big Island

A brush fire was detected in the Ka`u District on the afternoon of Friday, April 30, according to a report from Hawai´i County Civil Defense.
The Hawai´i Fire Department indicated that a brush fire was underway near the 60 mile marker of Highway 11 in Ka`u.
Smoke may be visible from the highway, but reports indicate that the blaze does not currently threaten any structures or roads. The Hawai´i Fire Department was on scene as of 2 p.m. HST.
