A portion of Kawaihae Road remains reduced to one lane of traffic following an accident.
As of 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, the Hawai´i Police Department reported that Kawaihae Road, between the 63 and 64 mile markers, would remain reduced to one lane of contra-flowed traffic for several more hours as crews continue their work.
One lane of the road was closed earlier Wednesday morning due to a utility pole that was damaged as a result of an accident.

Police and emergency crews remain on scene. Motorists are asked to drive with caution in the area.
