Overdue Hiker Found in Kalapana Gardens

An overdue hiker was found confused walking in a lava field in the area of Piilani Road and Kalapana Gardens, Tuesday evening, April 20.
Hawai‘i Fire Department and Hawai‘i Police Department responded to the incident of a missing person at approximately 7 p.m. and began to search the area. A woman was found about an hour later by HPD.
“She told HPD she was confused and not sure what had happened,” HFD stated in a press release.
The woman was assessed at the scene and was ultimately transported to Hilo Medical Center for further evaluation.
