Police Cite 29 For DUI Over Previous Week
Hawai‘i Island police arrested 29 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant over the previous week. Six of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. None of the drivers were under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 331 DUI arrests compared with 266 during the same period last year, an increase of 24.4%.

There have been 198 major accidents so far this year compared with 243 during the same period last year, a decrease of 18.5%.
To date, there have been seven fatal crashes resulting in seven fatalities, compared with seven fatal crashes resulting in seven fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide.
