One Visitor Charged with Manslaughter Following Deadly Altercation in Kona
One of the visitors taken into custody following the fatality of a 30-year-old man was charged with manslaughter.
Thirty-seven-year-old Benjamin Fleming of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is accused of manslaughter in connection with the death of another visitor following an altercation that took place March 29 in Kailua-Kona.
Fleming was initially arrested with 31-year-old Alexander Germany-Wald, of Boston, Massachusetts. However, after further investigation, Germany-Wald was released from police custody with no charges.
Fleming remains in custody with his bail set at $250,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for this morning, March 31.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
