Kea‘au Structure Destroyed in Blaze

No injuries were reported after a single-story wooden structure in Kea‘au was destroyed in a blaze Wednesday morning, March 17.
Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to the fire, locating on the 15-0000 block of 18th Avenue, at 10:09 a.m. Once on scene, crews discovered the unattended residence, approximately 1,200 square feet, fully engulfed in flames with its roof collapsed.
HFD fought the blaze using attack lines and water shuttle operations as no fire hydrants were in the immediate area. Crews were able to prevent fire from spreading to surrounding exposures. The structure is a total loss with damages amounting to $150,000.
The fire is currently under investigation.
