Special Marine Warning Issued for Big Island Waters

The National Weather Service issued a special marine warning for leeward, southeast and windward waters around the Big Island until 1 p.m.
At 11 a.m., a line of strong thunderstorms from South Point to 7 nm east of Kapoho was moving east at 10 kt. Waterspouts and wind gusts of 34 knots or greater are expected.
Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves.
Locations impacted include Cape Kumukahi, FAD Buoy A, South Point, FAD Buoy D, FAD Buoy SS,
FAD Buoy KH and FAD Buoy RN.
Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.
