Downed Utility Pole in Honaunau Shuts Down Portion of Highway 11 for Hours

A downed utility pole in Honaunau that shut down a portion of Highway 11 for several hours has reopened one lane.

Hawai‘i County Civil Defense Agency issued a text alert at 8:45 p.m. on Friday indicating Highway 11 near mile markers 102-103 was closed. According to Hawai‘i Police Department, the downed utility pole was a result of a traffic accident.

At 9:45 p.m., Hawaiian Electric reported 469 customers were without power from Kealia to the Miloli‘i area. Power has since been fully restored as of 7:30 a.m.
