Brush Fire Continues Burning in Ka‘u

Hawai‘i Fire Department personnel are battling a large, coastal brushfire burning in the Big Island’s Ka‘u District. The blaze began early Sunday morning.

Hawai‘i County Civil Defense said the bushfire is in the South Point Area. Authorities have closed South Point Road as a precaution and will allow resident traffic only.

All people are advised to avoid the area.
