Student Music Recital to Be Held at Church of the Holy Cross

Mikala will present a student recital on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019. at 4 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Cross in Hilo.

Of his 36 students, 29 will perform on piano, voice and percussion in various solos and duets.

Students vary in age from 5 to adult.

Reina Dawn will serve as emcee for the recital.

The concert will celebrate an eclectic mix of composers, including Henry Mancini, Mozart, Peggy Lee, Scott Joplin, Dimitri Kabalevsky, Jonathon Larson, Billy Joel, The Wiggles, Audiomachine, Lemonade Mouth, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Yojiro Noda, Freddie Mercury, Richard Rogers and Lorenz Hart, and Claude Bolling.

Mikala will close the recital with Bohemian Rhapsody and Suite for Jazz Flute & Piano, #3 Javanaise.

He will perform with Jean-Pierre Rampal on flute and bass flute, Marcel Sagiani on drums and Max Hediguer on bass via Music Minus One, with split channel stereo.

This is a free event for the Big Island community. All are invited to join in a potluck after the recital.

The Church of the Holy Cross is located at 440 West Lanikaula St.
