Military Convoy & Training Schedule Set for July
The convoys planned for July 2019 include the Hawai‘i National Guard traveling to Pōhakuloa Training Area for annual training and returning upon completion of training.
Below is the current schedule:
July 15 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. from Kawaihae to PTA; six separate convoys spread out over time to avoid congestion.
July 6 between 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. from Keaukaha Military Reservation (Hilo) to PTA
July 17 between 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. from Keaukaha Military Reservation (Hilo) to PTA
July 26 between 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. from PTA to Keaukaha Military Reservation (Hilo)
Aug.1 between 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Kawaihae to PTA; six separate convoys spread out over time to avoid congestion.
Departure times could change to earlier departures to avoid heavy traffic or rush hour
The bulk of training at PTA this month involves the Hawai‘i Army National Guard conducting
small arms marksmanship, vehicle convoy live-fire and mortar live-fire training.
Additionally, the Hawai‘i Island Police Department Special Reaction Team will conduct local training
(urban environment and K-9 training) into August.
