The USGS reported that a 6.8-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Kuril Islands on Oct. 10, 2018, at 1:16 p.m.
ORIGIN TIME – 0116 PM HST 10 OCT 2018
COORDINATES – 49.1 NORTH 156.4 EAST
LOCATION – KURIL ISLANDS
MAGNITUDE – 6.8 MOMENT
Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawai‘i.
