Man Swept Away By Flood Waters in Hilo

A man was rescued on Bayfront Highway in Hilo this morning, Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, as her tried to cross an area inundated by the Hurricane Lane downpour, and was swept away by flood waters, according to photographer Dustin Acdal.

Hawai‘i County Civil Defense reminds the public to avoid low-lying, flood-prone areas.

Do not cross fast-moving flood waters, either my vehicle or on foot.

Turn around, don’t drown.
