County of Hawai‘i Self-Evacuation Notice

The Central Pacific Hurricane Center has extended the Flash Flood Warning for Hawai‘i County.

Due to the Flash Flood Warning, the following are issued:

  • If you are experiencing flooding to your home and property consider leaving to a safe place while you are still able to get out.
  • Public Safety personnel are busy assisting others that are trapped behind flood waters.
  • Public Safety will be prioritizing calls for life safety.
  • An American Red Cross shelter has been opened at Waiakea High School for Hilo and Kamehameha Park in Kohala if you need to go to a shelter.

The Hawai‘i Police Departmetn and Hawai‘i Fire Department recommend that residents of Reeds Island on Kaiulani Street evacuate their homes due to increased danger of flooding.
