A 6.8 (upgraded) magnitude earthquake has occurred near Fiji with the following preliminary parameters:

ORIGIN TIME – 0629 PM HST 18 AUG 2018
COORDINATES – 16.8 SOUTH 177.8 WEST
LOCATION – FIJI REGION
MAGNITUDE – 6.8 MOMENT

EVALUATION

Based on all available data a destructive Pacific-Wide Tsunami is not expected and there is NO Tsunami Threat to Hawai‘i.
