The Huggo’s Wahine Tournament, an all-women fishing tournament, starts on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Open to wahine (women) of all levels of fishing experience, tournament anglers fish for cash prizes awarded to the teams with the largest marlin/billfish weighing more than 300 pounds. Trophies will also be awarded for the largest ahi, ono and mahi mahi catches.

Huggo’s Wahine Tournament is a benefit for Family Support Services and raises money to help support families and communities in providing love and care to Hawai‘i Island children.

The world’s largest ladies billfish tournament is fun, entertaining, competitive and limited to 75 lady angler teams. Women are encouraged to sign up their teams before the July 25 deadline.

For 23 years, the tournament has set themes that capture the spirit of this fun-filled weekend. Huggo’s Wahine Tournament anglers have the opportunity of winning great prizes for the best-decorated boat and best costumed team. “Game of Thrones” is this year’s theme and is certain to bring out imaginative fantasy-themed costumes from the lady anglers. Think dragons, slayers and magic.

To make the tournament even more fun the Huggo’s Wahine Tournament will be serving Liquid Aloha from the iconic Kona Brewing Co.

Entry forms are available at Huggo’s, Sea Store Deli and the Fuel Dock at Honokōhau Harbor, or on line. Interested teams, volunteers, and sponsors are encouraged to contact Tournament Director Sue Vermillion at (808) 329-2840.
