Waimea Community Theatre presents The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien.

The Hobbit, is a children’s fantasy published on Sept. 21, 1937, to wide critical acclaim, being nominated for the Carnegie Medal and awarded a prize from the New York Herald Tribune for best juvenile fiction. The book remains popular and is recognized as a classic in children’s literature.

This faithful adaptation follows Bilbo and an an intrepid company of dwarves through and over hills and forests, past trolls, goblins, and giant spiders, until they finally come face to face with the evil dragon Smaug.

The plays will run at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea from Friday through Sunday, July 27 to 29 and at the Aloha Theatre in Kona from Friday through Sunday, Aug. 3 to 5. Tickets are available online.
