Man Dies at Waipi‘o Valley Beach

The Hawai‘i County Fire Department responded to a drowning victim at Waipio Valley Beach on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 9:24 a.m.

Upon the firefighters arrival, bystanders were performing CPR on a male approximately 50-years-old.

Chopper Two transported the patient from the beach to the landing zone, which was located at the end of Highway 240, then the patient was transported to Hale Ho‘ola in Hāmākua.

The cause of the fatality is unknown at this time.
