Cooking in Pono.

Cooking in Pono Author LiAnn Uyeda will bring samples to Kona Stories Book Store on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, from noon to 2 p.m.

Uyeda captures the essence of the ono local recipes of Hawai‘i by living in pono (excellence).

Frst-time author and healer Uyeda savors the flavor with generations of family cooking while bringing life lessons to the table.

“I was inspired to gather family recipes as my mother was struggling with cancer,” she said. “While writing the recipe for ‘Miso Soup,] I thought of ‘Me So Strong;’ how to be spiritually strong during this life challenge. In life if the spirit is strong, so is the body.”
