The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the Wind Advisory for most areas on the Big Island through 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2017.

Northeast winds at 15 to 30 mph with localized gusts over 45 mph are expected through tonight.

Winds this strong can knock down tree branches and lead to localized power outages.

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of at least 30 mph, or gusts of at least 50 mph, are expected.
