Volcano Festival Chorus to Present Annual Christmas Concert

The Volcano Festival Chorus will present its annual Christmas concert “The Wonder of Christmas” on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at Kīlauea Military Camp theater.

The 25-member chorus will be led by director Roch Jones with accompaniment by Walter Greenwood. Cheryl Shine will join them on flute and piccolo with Gillen Kauakahi on recorder.

The concert will feature religious and secular Christmas tunes including: “Carols of Gathering” by Joseph Martin, “White Christmas” and “Happy Holiday” by Irving Berlin and “Have You Heard the News.” Many popular carols will also be sung including “Do You Hear What I Hear,” “Ring, Christmas Bells” and “Pie Jesu.”

Admission to the concert is free. Donations will be gratefully accepted.

The Volcano Festival Chorus began in 1994 with music director Camille Almy, and has performed for the last 23 years as a gift to the Volcano community. It is sponsored by Kīlauea Drama & Entertainment Network (KDEN).
