A brush fire that was reported yesterday in Pahala is now under control, Hawaiʻi Police announced. However, fire crews remain on the scene addressing “hot spots”.
Kaʻalaiki Rd in Pahala was closed for nearly 24 hours while the Hawaiʻi Fire Department attempted to gain control of the fire. Approximately 35-40 acres have been destroyed by the fire.
The fire is still active but has moved East. No homes or structures have been threatened.
Although the roadway is now open, officials asks drivers to be cautious of fire personnel in the area. Emergency responders thank the public for their patience during this time.
