Looking Ahead
Locally breezy trade winds will gradually ease today, with clouds and showers mainly over windward slopes. Winds will weaken and shift out of the southeast on Saturday then to the south over most of the island chain on Sunday as a front approaches the area from the northwest. Humid and hazy weather with land and sea breezes will develop over most areas, while clouds and showers will favor interior portions of the islands during the afternoon and evening hours. The front will stall near Kauai on Monday and Tuesday, then trade winds will eventually build back by the middle of next week.
Today & Sunday
We expect variable winds up to 15 mph with local land and sea breezes developing. Partly cloudy skies with scattered showers and volcanic haze. Temperatures up to 84° to 89° but feeling warmer due to the higher heat index.
UV index at 10 (“very high” exposure level)
Tonight & Sunday Night
Light and variable winds are expected tonight. Scattered showers are possible to start, then clearing skies for the Kona side as the night goes on. Low temperatures from 72° to 77°.
