5,000-Gallon Wastewater Spill in Na‘alehu

The County of Hawai‘i Wastewater Division reported that a wastewater spill occurred on residential grounds at 95-5575 Opukea St. in Na‘alehu from Sept. 29 to 28, 2017, due to a sewer backup caused by a pipe break in the Hawai‘i County sewer system.
Estimated 5,000 gallons to the ground.
The sewer backup was cleared and pipe was being repaired at the time the county press release was sent.
Spill area was also cleaned and disinfected.
