Community First Hawai‘i is offering a free class on how to prepare an Advance Health Care Directive on Tues., Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Aging and Disability Resource Center in the old Sun Sun Lau building in Hilo.

An Advance Health Care Directive is a free, legally binding document can help your family honor your wishes for end-of-life care. It allows you to ensure you receive the care and services you desire, that you can refuse treatment at determined stage and designate the person you would like to make decisions on your behalf.

If you do not make your wishes clear, your family members and friends may not agree about what type of care and treatment you would want. It is possible that your desires will not be carried out, since a conflict may lead to lengthy court delay.
