Mauna Lani Resort has announced Rodney Ito as its new managing director. The hospitality veteran will oversee operations for the 341-room Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows, Mauna Lani Spa and Sports & Fitness Club, in addition to the Francis H. I’i Brown Courses and other assets.

“Mauna Lani is proud to have Rodney lead our resort team,” said Patrick Fitzgerald, partner at DiamondHead Land who recently purchased Mauna Lani Resort. “Rodney values the preservation of Mauna Lani’s cultural and environmental traditions.”

Ito brings decades of senior management leadership experience in the hospitality industry to his new position. He has been the general manager of the hotel, spa and sports & fitness club at Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows since 2014.

Prior to this position, Ito served as general manager at Waikoloa Beach Marriott, Director of Operations for Marriott International’s JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa and Waikiki Beach properties, as well as area director of operations for North Asia, Hawai‘i and the South Pacific.

“His leadership skills and strong drive to continually improve all aspects of our operations will be a tremendous asset as Mauna Lani moves into a new era,” said Fitzgerald. “We look forward to working with Rodney as he leads the team through exciting improvements at the resort.”
