New Scholarship Awards Students for Garden Work
The Hawai‘i Institute of Pacific Agriculture (HIP Ag) has announced a new scholarship for North Kohala and Kanu O Ka Aina high school students, as well as North Kohala High School sports teams.
The Mahi‘ai Scholarship Award was created by HIP Ag to engage more students in land stewardship and food cultivation efforts, and to grow the school garden white generating interest in agriculture. The scholarship’s aim coincides with the Kohala’s Community Development Plan of producing 50 percent of locally grown food by 2018.

Awards will be given based on student participation in the school’s garden plots, rated by most hours logged and quality of effort. All awards will be distributed during the last month of school, May 2018.
