Big Island Surf Forecast
Hilo side: Surf heights are expected to be waist high or less today.
Kona side: Surf heights are expected to be waist high or less today.
South: Surf heights are expected to be waist high or less today.
Trade wind swell is forecast to ease Tuesday for east facing shores. When winds pick back up later this week, the trade swell will also increase up to chest high for the best breaks. Keep in mind the conditions will be pretty messy with onshore winds.
Our modest south-southwest swell is dropping out by the middle of the work week. Minimal surf energy out of the South Pacific for most of the week. We could see a boost out of the south for the weekend with another boost of swell energy expected around the 15th. Will keep an eye on it.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
