Stranded Opihi Picker Found Uninjured

The Hawai‘i County Fire Department responded to a report of a missing opihi picker who was last seen just north of Kawainui Stream on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 3:07 p.m.
The area includes a rugged coastline with precipitous cliffs and little to no shoreline access.
It was reported that the opihi picker had disappeared after rappelling down a coastal cliff.
Upon making contact with the reporting party, Chopper 1 fire personnel was directed to the area of his last known point.
The chopper was able to locate the stranded opihi picker. Using a Billy Pugh net, he was safely transported to HFD ground units.
He was assessed and determined to have no injuries.
