Hawaii Forest and Trail in Kailua-Kona will hold a free Bird Catching and Featherwork Talk Story on Friday, May 26, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Noah Gomes will share his analysis of ancient Hawaiian techniques for catching birds.

Gomes plumbed traditional Hawaiian language chants, songs and prayers for scientific and cultural insights. From his study he will share information about net techniques, ceremonial works of art and more.

His message is to build bridges with the land and to each other; historical and cultural understanding inspires us to conserve and restore native habitats.

Hawaii Forest and Trail in Kailua Kona is located at 735593 Olowalu St.
