Judith Peralto Maldonado, 74, of Hilo, passed away on April 16, 2017. Judith was born on March 28, 1943,in Hilo. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughter; Keola Kristi Anne Maldonado, brother; Joel Peralto,sister Donna Peralto Tamasese, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, numerous, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins and Pre-dedeceased by husband, David G. Maldonado, son; David Brian Maldonado and daughter; Kelly Lee Maldonado.

John “Kawelo” Kong Kee, Jr.
April 9, 1965 – April 9, 2017

John “Kawelo” Kong Kee, Jr, 52 of Keaʻau, Hawaiʻi passed away on April 9, 2017. Survived by parents John and Lei Kong Kee, sisters Florence “Keoho” Kong Kee, Mary Kapanui, Theresa Kong Kee Luke (Marshall) and his brothers; William Kong Kee and Sam Kong Kee (Candy), nephews; Kolomona (Summer) and Kamuela (Hoku) Kapanui and nieces; Faith and Sage Kong Kee, grandnephews and grandnieces.

A 1983 Graduate of Kamehameha Schools, Kawelo had a deep love for Hawaiʻi and shared that love through his music and dance. He worked for Disneyworld Orlando at the Polynesian Hotel as an entertainer and dancer. He traveled to Japan where he shared the Hawaiian culture and performed at numerous events. Kawelo loved teaching the students at Ke Kula O Nawahiokalaniopuu, a Hawaiian charter school. As a member of Halau o Ka Ua Kani Lehua he participated in the Merrie Monarch, other hula events and community gatherings. Kawelo lived life to the fullest. He will best be remembered for his generosity and fun loving spirit. Mahalo Nui for the loving memories. We miss you….we love you…we will never forget…..

Thomas “Coach Tom” Makoto Matsumoto
May 7, 1950 – April 13, 2017

Thomas “Coach Tom” M. Matsumoto, 66, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on April 13, 2017. He was born on May 7, 1950, in Pu‘unēnē.

A celebration of his life will begin at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Grace Bible Church, with visitation from 2:30 p.m. Please come join us as we celebrate “a life well lived.” The family requests no wreaths.

Tom worked in construction. He also coached for the Maui swim Club for over a decade. He is survived by his wife, Linda “Kiki” Matsumoto; mother, Nancy Matsumoto; sons, Brandan Matsumoto, Kiakahi Matsumoto, Ponia Matsumoto; daughter, Kaimi Matsumoto; siblings, Amy Matsumoto, Norris Matsumoto, and Thelma Akita-Kealoha.

April 20, 1933 – April 15, 2017

Marilyn Ann Maddux, 83, of Kīhei, passed away on April 15, 2017 at Hale Makua in Wailuku. She was born on April 20, 1933 in Raytown, MO.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Keawalai Congregational Church in Mākena.
